A large scale residential lot provided the blank canvas for a new house for a young family. With a topography that naturally sheltered the home from the prevailing wind, it was appropriate to “hunker” the building platform into the bank slightly to further shelter the outdoor living spaces to the North and East. This appropriation of concept also provided the living spaces with privacy from the adjacent dwellings, allowing the house to open up the northern rural landscape.
